Dear Friends, This past month has been an extraordinary time at our YMCA. We have seen so many great things develop from partnerships, unity and our communities’ efforts to always push forward and serve others.  

I am always amazed when I see the level of commitment and dedication from our volunteers, members, program participants and youth. This month alone, our Y family has come together through partnerships, acts of service and supporting others through selfless acts of kindness. Our donors gave generously, students

Working at the YMCA as a camp counselor or lifeguard provides teens and young adults with key career-building skills that they can take anywhere as they prepare for college or their career. The skills young Y staff learn, demonstrate and master translate to multiple situations and work environments that are on par with and often more valuable than an office internship.  

YMCA of Southwest Florida recently welcomed a new partner, BJ’s Wholesale Club, to the Port Charlotte community. The brand-new club is located at 19150 Quesada Avenue and marked the retailers second grand opening of the year.

Each day, I see firsthand how the Y impacts our community. From children in our early learning programs to seniors in our Programs for Health, the Y changes lives. February was no different. YMCA of Southwest Florida has experienced some incredible things this year already.

The Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation board recently approved $8.5 million in grant funding, including a $408,000 grant to YMCA of Southwest Florida to increase the quality and capacity of its early learning academies.
